Which QB is going to make a difference on offense?
The Browns have been without their star quarterback since the 2015 season opener against the Packers, but now they have a new one in Josh McCown.
McCarthy, who turns 40 next month, had been the team’s starter since 2013.
He led Cleveland to a 3-2 record in his first season as the starter and to a playoff berth in 2017.
Now, however, McCown will be the team he was drafted to coach.
The Browns are a contender for the AFC North title, and with a bye week, they’ll need McCown to step up.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter says McCown could be the answer to the Browns’ quarterback woes: “I’m going to go with McCown, who, like I said, is a veteran quarterback who’s had an excellent career.
He’s proven that, and I think if he continues to be effective and does everything he can to get better, then he could be a great candidate for that.” “
That means he’ll be in the mix for the No. 1 job.
He’s proven that, and I think if he continues to be effective and does everything he can to get better, then he could be a great candidate for that.”
“McCarney is going in with a great chance to be the Browns starter for a long time.
He is, I think, in a very good position.”
McCloughan is a big name, too, having led the Vikings to two NFC North titles and three division titles in his 14-year NFL career.
However, he was a free agent after the 2017 season and has yet to be signed by another team.
A year ago, Cleveland was 0-8 with McCaughey at quarterback, but after losing two of their final three games, McCaughers was named the team MVP.
This year, the Browns are 2-0 with McCausons at quarterback.
With the addition of McCown and the additions of DeShone Kizer and Case Keenum, Cleveland has the makings of a playoff contender.
Here’s how the rest of the AFC South standings look: Los Angeles Rams at Baltimore Ravens – The Rams are coming off their best season in years, and they’re one of the favorites for a division title this year.
Their defense has allowed the fewest yards per game in the league this year, allowing only 38.3 per game, third-fewest in the AFC.
Baltimore is coming off back-to-back wins over the Chargers and Titans, and this is a prime time to get excited for the Rams.
San Francisco 49ers at Miami Dolphins – The 49ers will be without their top two cornerbacks for the first time since Carlos Rogers was lost for the season with a torn ACL.
They also will be missing safety Tramaine Brock, who has been sidelined for the past month with a hamstring injury.
Miami, though, has been very solid at home, ranking second in the NFL with 14 victories this season.
Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is coming into his third season in the booth and is coming on strong after his first year under first-year coach Adam Gase.
There is plenty of optimism for Tannehills future, too.
Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans – Texans rookie QB Deshaun Watson will be back in the lineup, after missing the first four games with a calf injury.
The Titans have allowed the fourth-fewst passing touchdowns in the NFC, but the team is starting to get back to being a dangerous team.
Houston is 1-0 in the division.
Titans running back DeMarco Murray is coming in to his third year as a starter, and his return to the field has been key to the team.
The Texans have been a top-three team in points per game allowed per game.
New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts – The Patriots are 1-1 in their last five games, and will need a big performance from quarterback Tom Brady to be good again.
Brady is the best QB in football, and he has thrown for nearly 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in his last three starts.
In his last start, Brady was sacked four times and had one interception in an 80-71 win over the Rams on Sunday.
But Brady has been on fire lately, completing 59.2 percent of his passes for 1,811 yards and nine touchdowns.
Indianapolis has been playing better than expected with an injury to defensive end Arthur Jones, who was placed on injured reserve after a hip injury.
Jones has not played since Week 6.
For Brady, this is his chance to show he can win games with the Patriots, a team he led in points and total offense for the second straight season.
New England will likely get the win.
